Mr B's Story

Mrs B was more than satisfied with the care we provided for her husband. Mr B was one of our clients with a high level of clinical needs who we cared for until he sadly passed away.

Mr B was one of our clients with a high level of clinical needs who we cared for until he sadly passed away.

Mr B was 64 years old with several conditions including diabetes, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis. He also had a tracheostomy (a tube in the throat to help a person breathe).

His wife provided him with nursing support during the day and we supported her by providing respite care to her husband overnight. We sat down with Mr B and his wife and agreed on some clear goals; to remain at home with social interaction, care and support. Keeping Mr B clean, well dressed and presentable was very important for them both.

As well as meeting all his physical care needs such as keeping his airways clear, our staff identified his interest in current affairs and we frequently read newspapers to him and talked to him during the night. We dressed him each morning (he always wore a tie), so he was always ready for when his wife got up and was ready to care for him again. He was treated with the respect he deserved and by ensuring that he was clean and presentable, we maintained his dignity despite his deteriorating state of health.

As his health deteriorated, we were able to liaise with all the relevant Doctors and Nurses and were able to increase the level of care that we provided. He passed away at home, with his wife according to his wishes and she was more than satisfied with the care we provided.

“My colleagues praise JCM all the time as they already know that there will be no concerns/issues or complaints when they review clients care packages”
